Here's the few development arcs for ADS
In general, catapult launching method could be integrated and fighters beaming improved. It will be reserved for fighter class ships. So, if the carrier dock some M6 or TS, those will still have to dock/undock without beaming.
Instead of the single “quantity” setting it should display a setup window looking more or less like this

the Buy and Sell logics use too much ships. A quick save/restore settings could be helpful here
More commands should be added (including everything ADS related) to the ADS manager. Fighter manager UI has to be improved. All ship class should be accessible as an option. Specific Manager only commands could be added, the main advantage about that is that they won't use a command slot.
It should be moved inside the Manager, so i can remove it from being used as an Additional Command Slot.
The Setup Carrier screen is outdated and should be merged with the ADS Manager. The fighter list should be more informative, and gives access to ship manager for the selected ship.

The Active / Inactive tag should be replaced by something more flexible:
Basic Automated Mode support for docked M6 and M7 as wing leaders and carrier escorts on mods with custom docking bays.
Targeting Mode should be changed to Combat Style
The Pirate Guild's defensive grid mechanism should be included. And should be available library style.
Each station on which the ADS “Link” is enabled will monitor the sector for enemies. ADS Compatible stations will send squadrons to defend their sectors while other will send a distress call to the ships you've linked to the Defensive Grid. Those will jump to protect the endangered base. in any case, a ECS event will be added.
Any player owned big ship could be linked to the Grid. Like M7 and M2 are linked in PG. Yaki Armada could take advantage of this and temporarily link a Yaki Carrier to the grid when the player hire one.
