You can play this game using either the keyboard, the mouse or both.
There is several ways to look around in GRA. You can press X to switch to Examine Mode. A cursor will appear over your character, move it using the cursor keys over the tile you want to examine to get a description about the NPC or object placed here. Pressing X again will go back to the standard controls and if you do it when examining a NPC, it will select this NPC as a target. Left Clicking on a NPC will select it and display his description. You can also use the [space] key to switch between visible NPC. Moving the mouse over a container or other notable object will display a description too.
To interact with your environment you can either bump into it (moving on the object) if it's located on an impassible terrain or Use it with the U key or by right clicking on it when your NPC is in the same tile. Interacting with different objects has different results. If it's a bed you'll be able to sleep here, if it's a shop it will open the trading window, if it is a locked container you will attempt to pick the lock, …
To attack a NPC you'll have to select it first, using the commands explained in the Looking Around section. When a NPC is selected you will see on the right part of the screen the NPC's name, health and your chance to hit it with your current weapon. Pressing [Numpad 0] or F will fire at the target. You can also right/click and select attack, or use the middle click button of your mouse to do so. To reload your weapon, press R or use the context menu (right click on your character). Some weapons (rifles, SMG, glock pistol, sawed-off shotgun) have a Burst Fire mode. It will fire 3 rounds at the target with a reduced accuracy. To toggle burst mode On/Off, press B or use the context menu. If a weapon is in burst mode, you'll see a [B] displayed next to the weapon's name in your right panel.
Attacking police officers or civilians will raise your Alert Level.
